The School of Chemistry has a strong and long-term commitment to ensuring that anyone with a passion for chemistry, whatever their background, can thrive and succeed. We pride ourselves on having created a friendly, inclusive School at all levels.
The School holds a Silver award from the Athena SWAN Charter, most recently renewed in 2022. This award is in recognition of our long-term work to address gender inequality. Within the School, our EDI Committee leads on developing actions to address issues within this sphere, with measurable success. We have recently been awarded a grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry for a three-year project, Polymerise, aimed to tackle .
