Financial Accounting
Module code: AF1016
We've all heard news stories about the work of financial accountants. Whether a business is reporting enormous profits, huge losses or is barely scraping by, the impact of the release of their accounts can be huge on their future viability.
Financial accounting provides outside stakeholders - such as potential investors, creditors and the general public - with an accurate understanding of a company's commercial and economic viability.
This is a highly technical module which teaches the basics of bookkeeping through to the preparation of financial accounts. Whilst the focus is on sole traders, it also looks briefly at partnership accounts and introduces company accounts which is important preparation for the follow-on modules in your second and third year. The module introduces the financial accounting framework and accounting standards and sets you up for further exploration of these. This module is an essential introduction to Financial Accounting and is an integral part of our Accountancy and Finance courses.
